You seem to have 2 basic ideas: movement and a little over done and then clean and static. I think I would like to see the ideas combined. For example taking concept one but only cutting the cover diagonally across with only one subtle curve shape. Then applying the clean logo or "QE". Something like that. Or go for the straight clean and simple look. I think Quark should have a sophisticated look to it. Your off to a good start...your ideas were more completely done up then mine. :)
I would like to see what you could do with 6 and what kind of abstract ideas you would use with it. I think I like the QE better then writing it out. You could do something abstract or flowing across it with a simplistic QE might look cool.
I like idea #2, quick and simple - goes straight to the point. Maybe you can put something in the background to draw your eye directly to the logo. I like the QE idea
I would choose # 3 or #6 , I think you can develop something with these designs. #3 - it's cool with the flower design, if you plan on making it dramatic with a drop shadow then that would be best or just add a pattern in the corner, but with very light opacity, if you would like. #6 - I think could work as well, but try to balance it out with the pattern, type, and logo.
I think idea number 1 has the most potential but remember from the Olympic logo project that you have to be careful with gradients. Also the words "Quark Express" feel a little squeezed.
i would like to see more concrete ideas. these are very vague, but i would go with something simple. not cluttered like # 1 or 4,5... those look clean and easy to work with
your ideas are still abstract right now and i can't really picture what your design will look like. spend some more time developing your sketches so we can grasp what your ideas are.
The idea of using a full color picture with negative space sounds appropriate for a package design. I think you should also incorporate negative space on #6. It will help you create a clean and simple design.
what other products are made by the same company? i would explore your product choices 1st. i would agree with jared. i can't really picture your vision.
simple is better... quark is a magazine layout program and I'd like to see that idea in the cover... or some hint... having pictures will convey another idea like the program is for image editing... it also depends on the picture... the fifth one has some potential i think it relates to files with that tab...
I think 2 or 4 would work out well. Maybe combine elements from the 4th and 5th one (Bottom of the fifth with the logo in the middle like the 4th)? When I see the name shortened down to QE enclosed in a box, it makes me think that it's trying to copy the CS4 suite. I also agree that the sketches should be refined a little more because it is hard to see.

ReplyDeleteI'm partial to number 1 and number 5. Number one seems like a good idea so far. I think with color added that design could be pretty good.
